I personally think it's a good way to unwind, especially if you can afford it. Paid dates offer you time with an attractive woman with whom you won't feel the need to impress (unless that's your thing). While it doesn't GUARANTEE a great date (chemistry is still important), but chances are that your date will make the effort to be interested in what you say/do during the date and be more involved per se.
Also, quite a number of busy people these days who are not looking for a committed relationship may prefer it this way - at least you know what you're getting and you don't have to go through the whole song and dance trying to pick up girls or getting friend to set you up etc.
Ultimately, you pay to enjoy an afternoon/evening in the company of a beautiful woman, and who wouldn't want that?

Well I don't see any reason in doing so unless she is your wife or girlfriend and you need to pamper her occasionally like wedding anniversary or valentine day.

That's because in a lot of cases in SG, as long as a girl is reasonably attractive, her expectations are generally through the roof -they want the luxury stuff or want to wine and dine at the finest places in town.
Might not always be the case, but the good ones are usually taken :P so these are the ones you're left to deal with...

I speak from a bit of both. I have very attractive friends who are like that and from following the popular blogs and stuff you see the same trend.
I'm not talking about the "okay, la not bad" or the "6.5/7 out of 10" kind - I'm talking about the kind where you see on the street you will look at least twice and maybe sneak some more extra looks kind.
Ofc personally if I do compensated dating, it'd be for that kind of calibre - the kind where I know it'd be difficult to keep if I have to keep her happy as a girlfriend instead. Paying for each time would greatly reduce complications, expectations, drama and let us both just focus on having a good time.
