There is no credit over someone you hardly knew and furthermore, to surrender your IC to a nightlife situation is out of the idea. It should not have been done in the first place.

Take to the bank liao
They tell me bank cannot be used but they cannot disclose the reason.

Since someone say should disclose name and number.
I doubt he use his real name though

You mean cheque cannot be used, not bank cannot be used, right ? So it is an invalid cheque.


Do some research, google to get some info on invalid cheques. I believe it is a criminal offense to issue an invalid cheque, meaning you can make a police report. Foremost, get more info on it first before doing anything. Maybe other bros more familiar with banking rules can clarify for you. He can counterclaim whatever he wants, but he will have to appear to do so. And he will have no idea how many others are around there on standby to take his pic and post on the net.

It is up to you now how far you want to take this. If it was me, I would want whatever money out of pocket so far and a fair bit for my troubles and I would let it rest. An apology would be nice too.

most people throw away or destroy cheque books when the account is cancelled. pretty unlikely that this fellow manage to get someone else cheque book. so, this fellow must have retained his old cheque book which has an invalid account already.. otherwise, he could have issued a cheque and before anyone goes to cash it, he called the bank to stop the cheque for a processing fee or $20 or $30...

so, i believe if got police involved, the bank can trace the cheque back to the owner of that account...

Use google, do enquires and research first before going to police. The average police at NPP will not know about whether if it is an offense or not. Research and confirm first before doing anything. Also give him a chance to settle this now before you really decide to escalate the issue.
