Divorce in Philippines?

To ALL,
Is it really so 'difficult' or impossible to file a divorce in Philippines for a philipina so as she can re-marry in other country?

Or we have to spend thousands of SIN dollars to engage the lawyer there?

Any 'experience' bros here can advise? Thanks!!

As far as i know, legal marriage is not very popular in Phil. Most of the couples are just staying together, without going thru the legal marriage. If the couples are staying together only, there is no need to have a divorce as they are not legal husband & wife in the law......check carefully on your partner status, and be careful, she can be living with another man even though u r a bf......The girls can be a 2-timer especially when you are not staying there together with her.

But, she is 'legally' married to her husband and currently she is separating him for just 2 years only.
According to her, she can't file a divorce unless she is willing to spend thousands of dollars??

At the core of the present controversy are issues of (a) grave abuse of discretion allegedly committed by public respondent and (b) lack of jurisdiction of the regional trial court, in matters that spring from a divorce decree obtained abroad by petitioner.

Its a country which revolves Catholic, divorce is very much frown upon and fr my pinoy friends... impossible. Its is common that couple live together as Man and Wife, but never register with the law.

Yup!! No divorce allowed in the Phillippines becos of their Catholic beliefs! But then they also practice pre-marital sex! So go figure!

All i can say is too bad for u, those replies are quite true, divorce is almost imposible in Phil as they are mostly catholic. And also i would recommend you not to completely trust when they tell u, they need alot of money to do the procedures. DOuble confirm properly before u invest alot of $$......Especially if you r a foreigner.

Yes, you need $$$$$ to get a divorce there. It will speed up if you are willing to spend.

In Philippines, they are consider "Separated" as they find it very difficult to get a divorce. Unless they have the $!
