The best way to go to Tan-zhou from Singapore is via Macau.

Just cross over to Zhu-hai from Gong-bei ( 拱北关 ) border and take a taxi. The ride will take 30 minutes and cost RMB50.

I made the mistake of flying into Shenzhen. The car ride took 1.5 hours and cost RMB650.
