Indonesia has a population of over 200 million however majority of the people are poor. The job opportunities in indonesia is very limited as it did not attract many foreign companies to invest. As a result, many men/women are willing to work but got no chance because whenever there is a job vacancy, maybe more than 50 people went for the interview. However, the salary they are getting are also really pathetic low compare to the cost of living there. Therefore, no choice they have to venture abroad. The men will apply to work in malaysia as construction worker whereas the women will come to spore to work as maid.
Then for those unlucky ones or more ambitious ones, will end up working in the sex trade. As what you said some of them came batam as a last stop after they have worked in high standard place like jakarta and kena rejected, however for Batam standard they are considered pass liao....
