Like I said, when a province girl says "I am a simple person" she means she is simple .. just take care of her, her mother, father, sisters, sister's husbands, brothers, brother's family, their dog, their cat, their neighbour (who persistantly seems to be suffering from cancer or TB or some very terminal disease, and you are heartless if you don't have a barangay wide birthday party with a big band, and feed a 1000 people - oh, not expensive no, only 30,000 peso) and oh, before I forgot, you have to pay for the carabao's heart transplant, and the grandfather's broken leg - or was it the carabao that needs a broken leg fixed ??

Oh, the carabao is the family asset for them to be self-sufficient so they don't need to depend on you .. till the next month ..

And, of course, one of the simple wish will be that the girl will want to adopt an orphan child, and of course, she knows you are kind enough to support the child .. (and don't be heartless, only few thousand peso a month, annual school graduation party, and then also mummy likes to celebrate her party, and ah, LOLO and LOLA also like to have birthday bash .. )

All of the above is confusing ? Well, stick to AC, first, and learn as you go mate .. Don't wade in deep .. (I been there enough times so I can say that .. )

Bicol: you can take a looooong distance bus, or take a train, or take a super fast ferry .. oh, better you fly directly to Legazpi ..

Reminds me of a guy who said:

the local boatman had been asking 2,500 peso for a day of boat ride, and the friend had said "well, my friend, I can't pay more than 500 peso"

The boat man's answer: "dont' be stingy, why don't you go back home, and get more money and come back to spend here ??? "

Logic ? Don't ever try that with pinas ..

I m a simple man who been in China before their economic boom.
The scenerio u cite is not much different w the China poor village girls, where all the relatives comes visit u looking for handouts n freemeals many years ago. Asks for motorcycles, tv n money to built houses.

It's just that w the economy boom, they r much better off now.

All i m tryin to say it's a norm for poor countries to have these "money demanding" situations not limited to the Philipines.

The most important thing is the money is still in ur hands.
I see the only problem is whether u r hard hearted enough to reject these demands. Lose face or lose money, choose one.
