A MALAYSIAN woman died after undergoing an abortion in an illegal clinic in Jakarta.

Indonesian police subsequently raided the clinic yesterday upon learning of the death.

Almima Zakariah, 27, started bleeding profusely after undergoing the abortion and died while on the way to a hospital.



"A Malaysian woman has died after undergoing an abortion at a clinic named Setia Abadi in Cakung, east Jakarta on Thursday," east Jakarta police chief Hasanuddin told New Straits Times via telephone.

"A midwife named Lamuali allegedly conducted the abortion, with the help of an assistant.

"We have detained the two women for investigations and shut down the clinic," said Hasanuddin.

A Malaysian embassy official confirmed the woman's death.

"We don't have details yet. We are still conducting investigations," said the official.

According to the police, Almima was accompanied by another Malaysian woman to the clinic.

When Almima started bleeding after the abortion, the midwife sent her to the Jayakarta Hospital.

However, the Jayakarta Hospital could not cope and sent Almima to another hospital, the Harapan Hospital.

Almima died at Harapan Hospital .

Almima's Malaysian companion accompanied her to both the hospitals.

"The Malaysian friend left Harapan Hospital after learning the victim had died and has not been seen since.

"We are currently looking for the woman," said Hasanuddin.

Almima is believed to have visited Indonesia three times.

She is believed to have last entered Indonesia on Aug 5.

The foetus is believed to have been thrown into a septic tank at the clinic.

According to Hasanuddin, efforts are currently underway to retrieve the foetus so that a post-mortem could be conducted to determine its age.

Abortion clinics are illegal in Indonesia .

Well, she went to an illegal clinic, which means there is no standards or even qualified doctors, so of course she was in grave danger and risked death. Abortions, like all clinical operations, must be done by trained and qualified medical personnel. Even a simple appendix removal or colonscopy can result in death if done by unqualified staff.

Some people zap for fun, others, zap becos you wrote something else where, not pertaining to this thread.

What you wrote is true. If really need to go for abortion, go to somewhere reliable. Not any how do it. Usually, can consider giving up the baby for adoption, no need to end a life.

well, abortions are illegal over here in malaysia too.

to share a non lethal abortion story that i heard before:

back 2004 - 2005 when i was still in college, there was a time when i cum inside my ex-gf after her period has just finished.

her period for the next month was late and i was starting to get worried.

i asked a fellow female class mate of mine and she told me that she has a friend who got an abortion before, but it was during very early stage, just an injection then kau tim.

to ease our minds, we went and bought a pregnancy test kit to test. luckily did not get pregnant.
