I got home and fell into a deep sleep, the workload is that of a full time teacher, after all, I am covering the lessons, not sit and wait for time to pass. In the late evening the sms alert. I got up from my bed to reach for my cell phone and read the message.
It came from a secondary school friend, James who was quite close to me.

The sms read:

Dude, how’s life, have you found a job yet? Are you keen to work for a bank? After all, your results are quite good, let me know.
By the way, I heard Ann got hitched with an Ang Mo, just too bad the two of you cannot continue with the relationship. Got a new girlfriend? Cheers, James

Upon reading James sms, I felt kind of down. James found a job two weeks after graduation, though my results are better than his. And Ann was my ex gf. Things just did not work out, she was demanding and not to mentioned, unreasonable, I got slapped once when I did not reply her sms. Simply ridiculous! I wonder if this Ang Mo guy can take her. But no matter what, we had some happy times together.

Beep! Another sms came in

SMS: Mr Yee, Joey here, are we going out for a movie? I just completed my CCA.

I went like: wtf, how did joey get my number?

My reply: How did you get my number?!

Joey reply: “Mdm Chan ( The School Admin Manager) ask for you when I went back school for CCA. She said you forgot to sign the sign in/out book for relief teachers, I saw your number in the record book loh.

My reply: There’s not much privacy, hmm, that’s bad! What movie would you like to watch?

Joey: What about Hulk? It’s a super hero film and I think guys like that. I do not mind watching it

I told myself: Hor say liao! Should I be a devil today?

My sms reply: Ok, we catch the 7pm onwards show? Which cinema should we go?

As I typed my reply on the cellphone, my mind was spinning fast, we should not watch the movie at a cinema within the proximity, in case we bump into other teachers or students from the school. Hence, I proceeded to hatch my little plan. We should go to a super ULU place!

Joey’s reply came in: What about Bishan?

My reply: Cannot lah! It’s the heartland near school, we will be spotted?

Joey: Spotted is ok what? The school never say a relief teacher and student cannot go watch a movie together! U like timid leh! No guts ah!

Upon reading her sms, it really seemed she’s inviting me to court her. The line between a teacher and a student has been blurred, or rather , did this line exist in the first place? After all, I am just a relief teacher. The perfect plan came to mind!

My reply: What about Balestier, not many people like to go there and I am pretty sure we can get the tickets without booking. I can drive my father’s car to pick you up.

Joey: sure, no problem! Come and pick me up at 6.45pm, just checked the papers, the show is at 7.35pm, can I take it that dinner is on you as well
My reply: sure, we can eat Chicken rice from the nearby Boon Tiong Kee.

Yeah. I was a relief teacher before.

After reading posts from TS and your post, I recalled some wonderful memories of those days as well.

As I searched my stuff in the wardrobe, I found some ‘love letters’ from my ex-students. Too bad, my ex-students were not that horny. There was no Joey in my classes. :rolleyes:
