I was there last year during the summer period where weather is warm. The whole place is a resort town where many small hotels are located. If U are into BBS then that is the place for u if not do not waste time there. There are KTVs there but no girls .... u have to get girls from BBS ..... the only issue is that BBS girls do not like to do LT .... most of them only do ST and give excuses to leave after 1 shot. There are 3 bars there but also there are no girls there.

Final ..... only BBS girls available (they are located in small shop houses in the resort ... like in Korea BBS)

To share some updates on Xia Chuan Dao:

Got back to Zhuhai last Fri and decided to make an impulse, lone ranger trip to this place. Since so much is heard it in this forum and about the beach and scenery over there.

Took the 8.15am bus from Zhuhai Gongbei to Shan Zui ferry terminal at a ticket price of 70RMB. The bus terminal is the one between Charming Hotel and Jin Ye Hotel. Reached Shan Zui ferry terminal at approx. 10am and purchased the 10.30am ferry ticket to XCD, which cost 47RMB. Ferry arrived at XCD ferry terminal slightly before 11.30am. After which bought a two-way shuttle bus ticket to the Wang Fu Zhou area for 18RMB and reached the entrance of Wang Fu Zhou area before 12pm. At the entrance of Wang Fu Zhou area, still have to buy a 60RMB ticket :(.

Total cost incurred up to now is already 195RMB. Adding in return ferry & bus tkt, total cost will stand at 312RMB.

There are quite a few hotel people with their buggies at the entrance of WFZ touting their hotels. Me being the scaredy cat that I may end up with no accommodation during this mid-autumn long weekend, had already booked a hotel for 600RMB online. Was approached by this guy from Hai Du hotel who told me their room goes at about 500RMB. Also whispered into my ear that he could arrange Mei Meis for 300RMB ST (aka "fastfood"). Thanked him for the offer and took his card.

Bumped into him again as I was roaming around the entrance area to get my bearings. Being the good businessman, he offered me a free ride on his buggy to my hotel. On the way told me that he has several Singaporean clients and showed me the wechat messages etc.. Took a look at Hai Du hotel and it was at a better location than the one I booked. It is along the stretch nearest to the beach and has sea view balconies. Exterior looked quite ok though did not go in to view the rooms.

After settling into my pre-booked hotel, went to roam about. Basically as what bros had described previously, the WFZ area is a small place, entire stretch is only about 1km long. Took a walk along the stretch between Hai Du hotel and the beach (where supposedly the ex-BBS were) and found that BBS are non-existence in the open now. Hence, just hang out at the beach, soak in the water, have a beer, etc.

The beach was good. Sand clean and well-maintained. Very clear water, good for snorkelling or scuba diving. Sea sports like jetski, banana boat and the parachute thingy all available. Did not play or ask the prices though. Lotsa family and couples on holiday trips, so the place is not entirely dead.

Going back to my room in the late afternoon, decided to arrange for a girl from that guy for a fastfood deal. Just before the girl knocked on my door, the hotel recep called my room phone and asked if I had ordered a girl. The recep told me it's very troublesome, I asked if it's scared of raid, the reply I got was that they have their in-house girls and asked me to send away the girl I ordered. hahaha. I just took the girl in (the hotel not gonna chase me out for this) and had some SOP service. Girl look was ok, attitude was good, no serious complaints.

At night went for a foot massage, costing 80RMB for 90min. Massage was so-so only. After which went to the beach, the usual stuff: BBQ, play fireworks etc.

Overall, I was there mainly for the beach and to relax and chill out. Was not disappointed by the beach, in fact liked the beach a lot. As for mongering, the ladies are definitely still available, just not in the open. As for whether I will return to the place, I don't think so. Quite a bit of hassle to go all the way there for the beach as there are alternatives elsewhere. Also, getting FJ this way is also not really my cup of tea. Plus, on my second day there (also the day I originally planned to leave XCD), there was a weather warning and all ferries will be suspended from afternoon onwards. There was a mad rush by a huge crowd to leave the place and board the ferry.

So, it was a nice place to visit, no regrets making the trip, but don't think i'll be going back :)

p.s. if bros here are looking for a relaxing beach trip (minus any mongering), I'll strongly recommend Hai Ling island 海陵岛 in Yangjiang 阳江 instead. Been there 3 times within a 5 month period as I really enjoyed it a lot. 3 hours by car from Zhuhai and it's connected to the mainland by a "causeway”.

Let me update you then. More or less still the same as per xiaopangge69's FR. Around this time of the year there are many typhoons so you have to take note of weather patterns. If ferries are cancelled then you are stranded on the island for 1 more day or so.

Anyway this is a very niche place so not suitable for mainstream punters. Time taken to travel is a hassle. In one day you are like the combine armed forces general doing sea, land and air travel.

You don't want to let it be one of those things you'd regret not actually doing later on! And the way things are developing in China, it's a safe bet that things are only gonna get worse for mongering before it gets better - if ever.
